The Action Research
Programme (ARP) unit is located at Tiruvarur (100 km from IMTI,
Thuvakudy) to cater the training needs of the Cauvery Delta farmers.
Objectives

closely study a sample site in a live irrigation system |

identify, prioritise constraints faced by farmers and formulate
corrective action |

Impact
analysis and evaluation |

Conducting
training programs to farmers and field staff viz., Irrigation
Assistants, Irrigation Inspectors, Work Inspectors etc., |

Formation
of Water Users' Associations (WUAs) by motivating and educating
the farmers on appropriate water use technologies and Participatory
Irrigation Management |

Financial
support through matching grant (Rs 100/acre) from IMTI is provided
to WUAs |

Monitoring
the progress of WUAs |

Guiding
WUAs on procedures for renewal, maintenance of accounts, records
etc. |
